How the cost is calculated

The calculator reads tier prices from a committed dataset (software-tco.json) maintained by Vendors.ie. Every figure is transcribed verbatim from the vendor's published pricing page and carries a source URL and verification date. The engine annualises monthly prices (monthly x12, annual x1), applies a USD-to-EUR conversion for Xero (dated and shown on the result), and shows both ex-VAT and inc-VAT at 23%. No model is involved in any cost figure.

VAT treatment

Most Irish payroll software prices are stated explicitly as ex VAT (BrightPay, Collsoft, Thesaurus). Accounting software prices are typically stated without a VAT qualifier. For a VAT-registered business, the subscription VAT is reclaimable - your real annual cost is the ex-VAT line. The toggle above switches the headline accordingly.

What is not included

Implementation, data migration, and training costs are not in the committed dataset for any of the seed vendors - those figures vary by provider and engagement scope. Use the optional estimate field above to add your own. The result labels it clearly as a user estimate, not a Vendors.ie figure.
