Peppol in Ireland

Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement Online) is the standard rail for sending electronic invoices, orders, and despatch advices between businesses and public bodies across the EU. If your software cannot speak Peppol, expect that to become a problem in Ireland over the next two to three years.

What Peppol actually is

Peppol is two things at once. It is a network (a federated set of access points that route business documents securely) and a set of document formats (Peppol BIS profiles built on UBL, aligned with the EU EN 16931 standard). When an Irish supplier sends an invoice to a French buyer over Peppol, both ends agree on the format and the route. No PDF emails, no portal logins, no per-customer integrations.

Who in Ireland needs to care

EU ViDA and the Irish timeline

The EU's VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) package was adopted in 2025 and sets a hard deadline of 1 July 2030 for cross-border B2B e-invoicing across all 27 member states. Ireland has not yet announced a domestic mandate, but Revenue's Modernising Ireland's Administration of VAT (MIAV) consultation (open through 2026) explicitly references Peppol as the preferred channel. Practically, any vendor selling Irish accounting, invoicing, or ERP software in 2026-2030 should be on a Peppol roadmap.

What "Peppol-ready" software means

A software product that is Peppol-ready can do one or both of the following without the buyer having to glue anything together:

A vendor saying "we support UBL" or "we support EN 16931" is not the same as being Peppol-ready. The standard alone does not put you on the network.

Find Peppol-registered Irish businesses

The Peppol Lookup Ireland tool searches the official OpenPeppol Directory for participants registered under country code IE. Search by name, filter by document type (Invoice, Credit Note, Order, Despatch Advice, etc.), and check what each participant is set up to receive.

Irish software with confirmed Peppol support

Vendors.ie tracks Peppol-readiness on every accounting, invoicing, and ERP profile in the dataset. We only flag a vendor as Peppol-ready when we can confirm it from their own documentation. The full list lives at Peppol-ready software for Irish businesses, updated weekly as new evidence is captured. Browse the relevant categories below for the wider dataset:
