Software commonly adopted after an EI Digital Discovery engagement
Enterprise Ireland does not publish an official "eligible software" list. This page shows the Irish-compliant software most often chosen by Irish SMEs at the end of a Digital Discovery engagement, grouped by category.
A note on eligibility
The Access Advice: Digital Discovery grant pays consultant fees, not software licences. You buy any software you adopt separately. That said, Enterprise Ireland-funded consultants tend to recommend tools with Irish compliance (Revenue, PAYE, GDPR EU residency) in mind. The categories below are the ones we see most often in outcomes.
Accounting and Revenue filing
Category →The most common outcome of a Digital Discovery engagement is a move from spreadsheets or an outdated desktop tool to a cloud accounting platform with Revenue integration.
Typical picks: Xero, Sage, QuickBooks Ireland, Surf Accounts, Big Red Cloud
Payroll and PAYE Modernisation
Category →Irish PAYE Modernisation compliance drops many SMEs into a payroll software selection. The consultant will usually narrow it to two or three picks.
Typical picks: BrightPay, Collsoft, Thesaurus Payroll Manager, Sage Payroll, Surf Payroll
CRM and sales
Category →Businesses with a sales team almost always leave the consulting engagement with a CRM adoption plan. Free tiers are often enough to start.
Typical picks: HubSpot CRM, Pipedrive, Salesforce, Zoho CRM
HR and employee records
Category →Businesses past 10 employees typically need structured HR software rather than spreadsheets. Irish-built options are strong.
Typical picks: HRLocker, Personio, BambooHR, Bizimply
AI tools and productivity
Category →For the AI pathway of Digital Discovery, Microsoft Copilot and EU-hosted tools tend to lead the shortlist because of GDPR data residency.
Typical picks: Microsoft Copilot, Notion AI, Claude for Business, Google Gemini Business
